What we stand up for
As one of two Model UN organizations in the world, DMUN was granted a special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Furthermore, DMUN has an affiliation with the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI).
Being a non-governmental organization (NGO) with special status to the United Nations, we stand up for better participation of young people in international politics, for youth empowerment and global learning.
We also speak up for a greater importance of informal education programs such as simulations, peer-to-peer learning or learning through voluntary work in projects supporting political education.
Furthermore, we pursue the goal of a higher presence of young people in different bodies and committees of the United Nations. For example, by including youth delegates as an active, firmly integrated part of the delegations of member states or non-governmental organizations, or by establishing a permanent youth forum as an advisory committee to the General Assembly.
At international conferences of the United Nations, we connect with relevant stakeholders, we actively take part in discussions and working groups and emphasize the importance and chances of youth participation and informal education programs with keynotes and workshops.
